PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

PSHE is a timetabled part of the curriculum for every student, from Early Years through to Sixth Form. Lessons cover relationships and staying safe, physical and mental health, money and the wider world, and preparing for life beyond school. The programme is age-appropriate at every stage and gives students a regular, structured space to discuss the things that matter to them.

Beyond the classroom

Educational visits and wider learning experiences

Learning at Morna is not confined to the classroom. Students take part in educational visits, field trips, residential experiences and expeditions that build independence, resilience and confidence. These experiences form a significant part of how our students grow as people, and are a core reason families tell us their children thrive here.

Learning support

Our SEN provision and SEN team

Our Special Educational Needs team is led by the school's SENCo and works alongside class teachers, subject specialists and Learning Support Assistants. Support is tailored to the individual: strategies and classroom adaptations, targeted intervention, or one-to-one learning support where it is needed. Individual Pupil Passports are reviewed and updated regularly, and parents are involved at every stage.

Counselling

Counselling and wellbeing support

Our school counsellor provides confidential one-to-one support for students who need someone to talk to, alongside proactive wellbeing work across the school. This includes supporting students through change, friendship difficulties, anxiety and the ordinary pressures of growing up, as well as working with staff and families so that the right support is in place early.

Individual care

The individual care and support we provide

Every student has a form tutor and a section leader who know them well. Because of our size and our staffing ratios, concerns are noticed early and acted on quickly. Pastoral care at Morna is not a separate department — it is how the whole school works, every day.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding and Child Protection

At Morna International College, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where every student feels protected, valued and listened to.

All staff receive regular safeguarding training, and our procedures ensure that concerns are recognised, reported and addressed promptly. We work closely with families and external professionals where necessary to protect and support our students.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

Morna has three Designated Safeguarding Leads, providing dedicated safeguarding support across Early Years, Primary and Secondary.

Our DSLs are specially trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, coordinate appropriate support and ensure that concerns are handled sensitively and in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.

Raising a Safeguarding Concern

Students, parents and carers are encouraged to contact any member of our safeguarding team if they have concerns about a child's safety or welfare.

Students may also approach any trusted member of staff, who will ensure that their concerns are passed to the appropriate safeguarding lead.

All concerns are taken seriously and handled sensitively, with appropriate confidentiality.
