Our international community is an important part of who we are. Students grow up learning alongside people from different cultures, backgrounds and experiences, developing respect for others while retaining the distinctive sense of community and connection to Ibiza that has always been part of Morna.

We believe education is about much more than qualifications. Alongside strong academic foundations, we want our students to develop confidence, curiosity, independence, resilience, kindness and a genuine sense of responsibility towards others.

Our values provide the framework through which this ethos is brought to life.

MORNA – Building the Foundations

In EYFS and Primary, our values are captured within our name:

MotivatedOrganisedResilientNurturedAchievers

From their earliest years at Morna, children are encouraged to be curious and enthusiastic learners, to develop confidence and independence, to persevere when things are difficult and to build positive relationships with those around them.

Being nurtured is particularly important during these formative years. We want children to feel safe, known, valued and supported, giving them the confidence to explore, learn and gradually take greater responsibility for themselves and their learning.

Achievement is equally individual. We recognise academic progress while also celebrating personal, social, creative and physical development, encouraging every child to recognise their strengths and fulfil their own potential.

Secondary & Sixth Form

ASPIRE – Developing Our Values

As students move into Secondary and Sixth Form, the MORNA values do not get left behind. By this stage, being motivated, organised, resilient and ready to achieve should be increasingly embedded in the way our students approach school life, while the nurturing relationships that helped establish those qualities continue throughout their time at Morna.

Instead, the values framework grows with them. ASPIRE builds upon these strong foundations, reflecting the greater independence, responsibility and awareness of the wider world that we expect as students mature:

AchieveSocially ResponsiblePurposeIndependentRespectfulEmpathy

ASPIRE does not replace MORNA; it extends it. As students grow, they are encouraged not only to be resilient, motivated and successful learners, but also to consider their purpose, their responsibilities towards others and the contribution they can make to their community.

Our Secondary values focus increasingly on the young person each student is becoming. Students are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning and choices, develop independence and sound judgement, and approach others with respect and empathy as they prepare for life beyond school.

In practice

Values Lived Every Day

MORNA and ASPIRE are not simply words or acronyms. They provide a framework for everyday school life, influencing learning, relationships, behaviour, pastoral care and the opportunities students are given as they grow.

We see these values in the small things that happen every day: a young child persevering with something they initially found difficult; a student arriving organised and ready to learn; classmates supporting one another; an older student becoming increasingly independent in managing their studies; or a student showing respect and empathy when someone else needs help.

They are also reflected in the way students are encouraged to take responsibility, make thoughtful choices, contribute to school life and consider the impact their actions have on others. Student leadership is one of the clearest examples of this in practice, giving students opportunities to represent others, contribute ideas, take responsibility and play an active role in the life of the school.

The language of our values develops as our students grow, but the foundations remain. MORNA becomes embedded and ASPIRE builds upon it, creating a continuous journey from a nurtured and motivated young learner to a confident, purposeful and socially responsible young adult.
